Performing refunds on edited orders
Cleverific automatically refunds an amount if a refund is due upon your initial edits. But if you want to add a refund hours or days after the first edits, you'll need to return to the original order to issue the refund through Shopify.
Refund not processed on edited orders.
Due to a limitation in Shopify, refunds will not be processed on an order that has been edited.
If you're editing an order in Cleverific for the second time (e.g., #1001B) and a refund is due or if you want to use Shopify's refund feature on an edited order, the refund will not be issued to your customer.
After saving your edits in Cleverific, you will receive an email notification that the refund wasn't processed:
You will see that the refund is noted on your newly edited order page timeline. In the refund details, "Manual gateway" means that the refund was not issued through the original payment gateway.
Refund an edited order through Shopify
If your order was edited multiple times in Cleverific, you can issue the refund through the original order via Shopify.
Steps
- In your Shopify Admin orders list, open the original order associated with your edited order.
- On your original order page, click Refund.
- Enter the refund amount and click the Refund button.
- The refund will be noted in the Totals section and the Timeline of your original order.
Note: If you're unsure whether or not a refund was issued to your customer, navigate to the Totals section of your original order. Successful refunds will always be noted in your original order's Totals section and Timeline.
You can read more about issuing refunds through Shopify in this article from the Shopify Help Center.
