Accessing Customer Portal with Checkout Extensibility as a customer

When the Customer Portal app block has been set up in your Shopify Checkout editor and Customer Portal is turned on in your settings, customers will now be able to access Customer Portal in multiple ways, depending on whether they checked out as guests or logged in. This article will show you an overview of what your customers see.

Order confirmation email

Customers can click the View your order button in the order confirmation email to access Customer Portal on their order status page.

Customer account

Customers can only access their order status page via their customer account if you use Shopify Customer account. Customer Portal is not supported on Legacy customer accounts (formerly "Classic").

Logged in checkout experience

Customers won't have to log in again on the order status page. They can directly access Customer Portal via the Customer Portal extensions you've installed on your order status page.

Guest checkout

When clicking the the View your order button in their order confirmation email, customers are redirected to their order status page. They can log in by entering their email address and a one-time passcode to access their order status page details. Once logged in, they'll have access to any Customer Portal extensions you've installed on this page.

Note: Shopify forces the login behavior to be passwordless for extensions on customer account pages, even if you're using Legacy customer accounts.
