Accessing Customer Portal with Checkout Extensibility
When the Customer Portal app block has been set up in your Shopify Checkout editor, customers can access Customer Portal in multiple ways, depending on whether they checked out as guests or logged into their customer accounts. This article will show you how.
Ways for customers to access Customer Portal
Via the Order confirmation email
Customers can click the View your order button in the order confirmation email to access Customer Portal on their order status page.
Via their customer account
You must have Customer account selected in your Shopify's Customer accounts settings. Legacy customer accounts (formerly "Classic") won't be supported.
- If customers logged into their customer account when checking out
Customers can access Customer Portal on their order status page via their customer account.
- If they log into their customer account and click on their order after checkout
After selecting their order in their customer account, customers can access Customer Portal directly on their order status page.
When checked out as a guest
When clicking View your order button in their order confirmation email, they can log in by entering their email address and a one-time passcode or order number to access Customer Portal on their order status page.
Steps
- Open the order confirmation email and click the View your order button. You'll arrive on the order status page.
- Click Log in.
- Enter the email address used to place the order.
- Enter the 6-digit code sent to your email address.
- You can access Customer Portal by clicking the Edit order button in the Change Order section of your order status page.
