How order editing in Advanced Mode affects Shopify Capital
If you're using Shopify Capital, it's important to know how orders edited in Advanced Mode can impact your repayment calculations.
Edited orders counting toward Shopify Capital repayments
Shopify Capital includes all types of transactions in its repayment calculations. This means that when you edit an order in Advanced Mode, and the edited order is created, the manual transaction is treated as a real transaction—even though it's not processed through a payment gateway but is marked as "Manual".
Shopify counts the following as eligible transactions for repayment:
- Manual payment methods (e.g., when an order is manually marked as paid or edited in Advanced Mode)
- Test transactions (e.g., using the BOGUS gateway)
- Historical imports
This behavior means that orders not processed through Shopify Payments or other actual gateways (PayPal, AfterPay, etc.) will still count toward your Capital repayment total.
It's also good to know that remittances are calculated on all orders marked as paid in Shopify, regardless of whether they were refunded, cancelled, or deleted later.
Repayment calculation behavior
The repayment logic for Shopify Capital is fully managed by Shopify. At this time, there’s no way to tag or structure a transaction to exclude it from repayment calculations.
