Colorado Retail Delivery Fee (RDF) and refund due in Cleverific
In Cleverific, you might occasionally see a $0.28 refund due on orders delivered to Colorado. This is usually related to Colorado’s Retail Delivery Fee (RDF).
What is the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee
Colorado’s RDF is a flat fee, not a percentage-based sales tax. Shopify documents that Colorado charges a separate flat retail delivery fee in their reporting (see the note under “Jurisdiction View” in Shopify’s documentation).

Why a refund due shows in Cleverific
Because Cleverific fetches tax rates from Shopify, if Shopify lists the Colorado RDF as a 0% tax rate, then Shopify returns it to Cleverific as 0% as well. That’s why it doesn’t show up as a tax line in Cleverific, and why you will see a $0.28 refund due even though Shopify includes it in the order total on the original order.
Workaround
For now, the most reliable workaround is to add a small custom line item to the order, such as a custom product named “Retail Delivery Fee” priced at $0.28. That keeps the order totals aligned and prevents Cleverific from showing a refund due for that fee.
Note: We realize this is a manual step and not ideal for day-to-day workflows. If Shopify changes how this fee is exposed, we'll make sure to adjust the behavior on our side to support this.
