Allowing customers to edit bundle items in Customer Portal
In Cleverific, you can allow customers to edit bundle-component line items directly from Customer Portal. By default, bundle components are locked and cannot be changed. Enabling this setting gives customers the ability to change variants, decrease quantities, or remove bundle components from their orders. This setting is disabled by default.
Enable bundle item editing
- From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Cleverific Order Editor
- In the nav menu, select Customer Portal.
- In the Customize order editing section, under Allowed changes, enable Allow editing bundle items.

- In the top bar, click save.
What customers can do with the setting enabled
Once enabled, customers can make the following edits to bundle-component line items:
- Change a variant (for example, swap a color or size)
- Decrease quantity
- Remove the line item
The "This item is part of a bundle and cannot be edited" message will no longer appear on bundle components when the setting is on.
Limitations on bundle item quantity increase
Quantity increases on bundle components are not fully supported due to Shopify's limitations and behave differently depending on which version of Customer Portal your store uses.
Customer Accounts (Change Order block): The quantity increase option is disabled in the interface. Customers cannot attempt a quantity increase.
Standalone (Change Order block New Tab): The quantity increase option is visible and clickable, but Shopify will return an error if a customer tries to use it: "The quantity of an item in a bundle can't be increased. Add a new product instead." The order will not be modified.
This is a Shopify limitation and applies regardless of the Cleverific setting.
Notes
- Non-bundle line items in the same order are not affected by this setting.
- This setting applies to Customer Portal only. It does not affect Advanced Mode or Quick Mode order editing in the Cleverific app.
