Setting up a post-purchase offer with Cleverific

Post-purchase offers appear immediately after checkout, before the Thank You page. Customers can accept or decline without re-entering their payment details. This article will show you how to build an upsells funnel step by step.

Before you start

Make sure Cleverific is set as your post-purchase app in Shopify:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
2. Scroll to the Post-purchase page section.
3. Select Cleverific.

Create a funnel

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Cleverific.
2. Click Upsells in the nav menu.
3. Click Create funnel and choose a layout, Multi-step funnel, Single page, or Grid.

4. Click Create.

You can't change the layout after the funnel is created.

Set targeting (optional)

By default, a funnel shows on every order. To target specific orders, click Edit next to the targeting section and click Add rule. You can add multiple rules; the funnel shows when all of them match.

Available rule types:

• Order contains products: show or skip the funnel based on specific products in the order (any of / all of / none of).
• Order contains a collection: target orders that include a product from a specific collection (any of / none of).
• Order product has tag: match orders where a product carries a specific tag (any of / all of / none of).
• Order product type: target by the product type of items in the order (any of / none of).
• Customer order count: show the funnel based on how many orders the customer has placed, useful for targeting first-time buyers or repeat customers (equals / greater than / at least / less than / at most / between).
• Customer tag: target customers who have a specific tag on their account (any of / all of / none of).
• Order discount percent: match orders where a discount of a specific percentage was applied (equals / greater than / at least / less than / at most / between).
• Order has a discount: show or skip the funnel based on whether any discount is present (is present / is absent).
• Order used a discount code: target or exclude orders that used a specific discount code, matched exactly and not case-sensitive (was used / was not used).

Add your offer

The steps will differ depending on the layout you chose.

Multi-step funnel

1. Click New offer on the canvas, then click the pencil icon to open it. You can also double-click the offer.

2. Click Browse and select a product. You can select the whole product (all variants) or a specific variant. Click Use a collection if you want to display a full collection as an offer.

3. After picking a product for the first time, Cleverific auto-fills the Banner text, CTA text, and Product description fields.

4. Edit any of these fields if needed. To refresh all three at once, click Regenerate copy next to the Banner text label. Using this feature is limited.

5. Enter a percentage in the Discount field to offer a discount.

6. Adjust any additional settings as needed.

6. Click Save in the top bar.
7. To add a follow-up offer, click the Add after accept or Add after decline action and repeat the steps above. You can branch up to 3 steps deep.

Re-selecting a different product on an existing offer doesn't overwrite text you've already written. Use Regenerate copy to refresh all three fields for the new product.

Single page

1. Click New offer on the canvas, then click the pencil icon to open it. You can also double-click the offer.

2. Click Browse and select a product.

3. To include a discount, enter a percentage in the Discount field.
4. Adjust any additional settings as needed.
5. Click Save in the top bar.
6. To add more offers, click the green + icon and repeat. All offers appear together on one page, up to 3.

Grid

1. Click New offer on the canvas, then click the pencil icon to open it. You can also double-click the offer.
2. Select Browse to choose the collection you want to display. Every product in that collection becomes a card in the grid (up to 24 products).

3. To include a discount, enter a percentage in the Discount field.
4. Adjust any additional settings as needed.
5. Click Save in the top bar. Cleverific will load the products from your collection in that offer after a few seconds.
6. To add the next grid page, click Add after accept or Add after decline on the offer and select another collection. You can chain up to 3 pages.

Activate

When your funnel is ready, click Activate and go live.
