How cancelled orders affect your Shopify sales reports

When you edit your orders in Advanced Mode, Cleverific performs a "save-as" by canceling the original order and copying the original payment to the newly edited version of the order. This creates a clear paper trail of what happened with your customers' orders at all times.

This workaround has an unintended consequence with Shopify's built-in Analytics and Reporting. Shopify's reporting will include an order's total even if the order has been canceled, causing sales figures to be doubled.

Note: If you’re an existing user (before October 4, 2021), Advanced Mode is the same mode that you’ve always used.

Get accurate reporting figures

If you are on the Shopify Advanced plan or higher, you can filter out canceled orders in your sales reports to get accurate figures.

Many merchants who use our app use this solution without any issues.

If you're on a lower Shopify plan, you can export your report and manually filter your CSV file.

Filter out canceled orders from your Shopify sales reports

The following steps work for all sales reports and custom sales reports provided by Shopify.

Note: Shopify does not provide filters for reports listed under Finances.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Reports.
  2. Select a Sales report, such as Sales over time.
  3. In your reports, click on the Manage filters menu icon.

  1. In the Manage Filters pop-up, click Select filter and select Canceled. This is the filter for the order's canceled status.

  1. Click the Search field and select No. The filter will only match orders that are not canceled.

  1. Click Apply filters.

Your report view will now only include orders that have not been canceled.
