Automatically waiving small balance discrepancies in Customer Portal

In your Customer Portal settings, you can enable the option to automatically discount small balance differences that occur after an order edit. This setting is disabled by default. When turned on, Customer Portal will automatically apply a line item discount to offset small increases in price, bringing the balance to zero.

Enable Automatically discount small balance differences

Once enabled, if a variant change increases the order total by less than your set limit, Customer Portal will automatically discount the difference on the affected item.

Steps

  1. From your Shopify Admin, navigate to Apps > Cleverific Order Editor.
  2. Go to your Customer Portal settings.
  3. Scroll to the Automatically handle small balance differences section.

  1. Check the box next to “Automatically discount small balance differences.”

  1. Set the maximum balance to auto-discount (for example, $0.10 ).

Your changes will be saved automatically. Once set up, these small balance differences will be handled for all future order edits in Customer Portal by applying a line item discount to the line item to bring the balance back to zero.

You can adjust or disable this setting anytime from your Customer Portal settings page.

Notes: The feature only applies when the new total is higher than the original within your set amount threshold.

e.g.: $0.02 outstanding with Maximum balance auto-discount set to $0.10.

If the difference in the outstanding amount exceeds the threshold set up, customers will see the remaining balance as usual.
