Setting different editing windows for specific days and times in Customer Portal

In Cleverific, you can set different order editing windows based on the day and time an order was placed, instead of using one fixed duration for every order. This is useful if you want to give customers more time to edit orders placed after your team logs off for the day or over a weekend, when nothing is shipping anyway.

How it works

By default, every order uses the same standard editing duration you set in Edit duration (for example, 30 min). With "Set different editing windows for specific days and times" enabled, you can add one or more windows that override this duration for orders placed during specific days and times.

Windows are checked from top to bottom, and the first one that matches an order's placed time applies. If an order doesn't fall inside any window, it uses your standard editing window instead, shown as the "All other times" row at the bottom of the window list.

Each window can also be capped, so editing closes a set number of hours after placement even if the window itself stays open longer. Whichever comes first, the window's end time or the cap, is when editing closes.

Once an order's editing window closes, the Change order block will display a message that the order can no longer be edited.

Examples

  • A window covering Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM, with no cap, keeps weekend orders editable until Monday morning instead of closing after your standard duration.

  • A window covering Monday to Thursday 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM, capped at 3 hours, appears to the customer as: "Orders placed Mon–Thu 5:00 PM – 9:00 AM can be edited until when the window ends, max 3 hours after placement." An order placed Tuesday at 6:00 PM falls inside this window, so editing closes at 9:00 PM Tuesday, 3 hours after placement, rather than 9:00 AM Wednesday when the window itself ends.

Set up edit windows for specific days/time

  1. From your Shopify Admin, go to Apps > Cleverific Order Editor > Customer Portal,

  2. Navigate to the Edit duration section in Customize order editing.

  3. Enable Show a countdown timer of time left to edit, if it isn't already. We recommend keeping this on alongside edit windows, since it shows customers a live countdown based on whichever rule applies to their order.

  1. Enable Set different editing windows for specific days and times.

  1. Click Add window to create a window. The first time you check the box, two example windows are added automatically. You can edit or delete these instead of starting from scratch.

  1. Select the days the window applies to, then set a start and end time.

  2. Choose how the window ends. Pick the next time it occurs for a window that closes the following day, or a specific day, like the following Monday, for a window that spans a weekend or several days.

  1. Check But no more than [ ] hours after the order is placed to cap how long editing stays open, and set a number of hours. Editing then closes at the window's end or the cap, whichever comes first.

  1. Click Save in the dialog to add the window, then repeat steps 4 through 7 to add more windows.

  2. Click the pencil icon to edit a saved window, or the X icon to remove one.

  1. Use the up and down arrows to reorder windows if you have more than one. Cleverific checks them from top to bottom and applies the first one that matches.

  2. Click Save in the top bar of the settings page to save your changes.

Important notes

All other times

This row at the bottom of the list isn't editable. It always reflects your standard duration from Edit duration and applies to any order that doesn't fall inside a window.

Disabling the setting

Turning off Set different editing windows for specific days and times doesn't delete your saved windows. Orders fall back to the standard duration until you turn the setting back on, and your windows return as they were.
